Finally, it is good to be back on the water. It was a busy spring with my landscape maintenance business but now its time to fish! Today I ran an afternoon trip, more or less a fish finding excursion as well as a sea trial to try out the new radar we installed this spring. We had just a couple hours to fish but managed to boat a half dozen blues to 10 pounds and one nice striper about 15 pounds. Tomorrow my landscape crew is joining me for our annual fishing trip.

Todays trip got cut short by serious thunderstorms! We were fishing over by the Vineyard when the emergency weather alert sounded indicating a major storm not to far away. The predicted path of the sorm was to take it North of us, but so much for predictions. It hit Vineyard Sound with HEAVY rain and frequent lightning. We made it back safely but it was the longest lasting and worst thunderstorm I have encountered while on the water. Two inches if rain fell in an hour and a half, and thats about how long the lightning lasted too! The boys was drenched to the skin but none the worse for wear. We had just started catching fish when the storm blew in, landing just 2 keeper bass and a couple small blues. The trip was rescheduled for later in the season.

Went cod fishing today out of Hampton NH with Rocky Gauron and had a great time! Caught maybe a dozen cod, 9 of which were over the 24" length minimum. Most weighed between 9 and 15 pounds. I hadn't been cod fishing in a couple of years so the change of pace was great! I have a couple of charters this week and the fishing is finally starting to heat up in Vineyard Sound, so if you get ther chance, give me a call and come on down for some great striper fishing! The fishing is really heating up this week. Several large stripers were boated this week including a 40 pounder caught on Sunday by Gordon Rollins. This is a great time to book a charter with Dr. Shoals Sportfishing!
