Striped bass opportunities at different times of the Season

May

By Mid-May hungry stripers are moving into Vineyard Sound and the fishing can be fast and furious! We don't need to travel far to find and catch large numbers of stripers, so we offer two trips daily.  Wire line jigging with the famous Hairball jig is the technique we employ to load up the boat with quality fish. This is a very exciting time to be in the Sound as catches can exceed 50 fish per trip!

June

June, arguably, is the best month to catch sripers on Cape Cod. Large schools of big hungry bass can seemingly be everywhere. As in May, we dont have to go to far to reach these fish so again we offer two trips daily. Many trips in June end early because the anglers arms are so tired from reeling in large numbers of quality bass.  Bass in June come in all sizes, from schoolies to trophies over 30 pounds.  Depending on water temperatures, jigging Hairball lures or trolling the tube and worm are the methods we employ for catching these aggressive bass.

July

As the water warms, the larger bass move out of the sound seeking the cooler waters south of the Vineyard.  We travel to areas, such as Gay Head, Nomans Island, and the Elizabeth Islands, in search of true trophy stripers. We anchor up and chunk fresh bunker luring bass to us in what can be some of the most  exciting fishing we offer.  If you have never caught a bass over 25 pounds, this trip is for you!  July is also when the bonito make an appearance as the water warms to their liking. Trolling light tackle or casting to breaking schools can be very exciting, not to mention the impressive table fare they provide.

August

As the dog days of summer heat up, so does the fishing! Believe it or not, some of the largest bass we boat all season are caught in August.  We target deep structure such as humps, rockpiles, and musclebeds in search of big lazy bass. Again, anchoring and chunking fresh pogies is the best ticket to catch these fish.  Fish to 40 pounds and larger are caught on some of  our August excursions!

September

The fishing can still be unbelievable in September. Some really big fish can be found lurking in the the shadows this time of year. They have been fattening up all summer in preparation for the migration south. The weather can be tricky so scheduling a trip in September usually requires some flexibilty as weather patterns change more frequently as fall approaches.
